Judge Naira Grigoryan Officially Charged with Abuse of Power

11 NOV 2025 10:09
Naira Grigoryan, a judge of the Court of General Jurisdiction of the First Instance of Armavir Province and daughter of former MP Manvel Grigoryan, has been officially charged under two articles of the RA Criminal Code. This step was preceded by the Supreme Judicial Council's consent to initiate criminal prosecution against her.
In response to a media inquiry, the Anti-Corruption Committee confirmed that within the framework of a criminal proceeding being investigated by the department, "a representative of the judicial authority has been charged under Article 441, Part 2, Point 5 (Abuse of official authority or influence or exceeding authority by an official) and Article 482, Part 1 (Delivering a knowingly unjust sentence, verdict, or other judicial act) of the RA Criminal Code."
This means that the judge is suspected of abusing her official position by misusing her powers and intentionally delivering an unjust judicial act.
A combined measure of restraint has been chosen for Naira Grigoryan. "A combination of a ban on leaving the country and bail has been selected as a combined measure of restraint," the Anti-Corruption Committee reported.
As a reminder, days ago the Supreme Judicial Council granted the Prosecutor General's motion, giving consent to initiate public criminal prosecution against the judge. Based on that decision, Naira Grigoryan's judicial powers have been suspended until the end of the criminal proceedings. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
