Jalal Harutyunyan's 5.5-Year Sentence Upheld

By its decision of September 26, the RA Court of Cassation rejected the cassation appeal of former Artsakh Defense Army commander Jalal Harutyunyan and his lawyer, and the verdict has entered into legal force. We learn about this from "Datalex." Harutyunyan will serve his sentence in a penitentiary institution.

Let us recall that the Court of General Jurisdiction of Syunik region, presided over by Judge Garik Abelyan, on January 15, found Jalal Harutyunyan guilty under Article 550, Part 3 of the RA Criminal Code, sentencing him to 5.5 years of imprisonment.

The Criminal Court of Appeal had left the guilty verdict against Jalal Harutyunyan unchanged.

It is noteworthy that Jalal Harutyunyan had not received the decision of the Criminal Court of Appeal for a long time; finally, he received the verdict in August, after which the procedural deadline for appeal began to be calculated.
