Israel's Security Cabinet Approves Plan to Occupy Gaza City

Israel's security cabinet has approved a plan to take control of Gaza. The approved plan focuses only on Gaza City, reports the BBC.

"The Israel Defense Forces will prepare to occupy Gaza City while providing humanitarian aid to the civilian population outside the combat zones," the statement from the Israeli Prime Minister's office said.

According to the publication, Netanyahu's office announced that five principles for occupying Gaza City and ending the war were presented at the Security Cabinet meeting.

They are: the disarmament of Hamas, the return of all hostages, both dead and alive, the demilitarization of the Gaza Strip, Israeli security control over the Gaza Strip, and the establishment of an alternative civilian government that will be neither Hamas nor the Palestinian Authority.
