Iranian MPs Visit Norduz Border Crossing with Armenia

Members of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament visited the Norduz checkpoint on the border with Armenia on August 19.

As reported by Iranian media, during the visit, the deputies spoke with passengers and learned about the existing problems. According to Iranian officials, about 2,000 people and 400-450 trucks cross the Armenian-Iranian border every day. These figures refer to normal conditions.

During the holidays, the number of travelers reaches 7-8 thousand. In addition, about one million tons of transit goods pass through the Norduz checkpoint annually, the capacity of which has significantly increased.

The committee members emphasized the need to develop infrastructure and urged to improve the conditions at the checkpoint.

It should be recalled that during the Iranian president's visit to Armenia on August 19, the plans in this direction were updated, including the tasks of Yerevan and Tehran within their framework.
