Iran Calls Accusations Baseless, Vows Retaliation

Tehran is threatening to take retaliatory measures after the expulsion of Iran's ambassador from Australia. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has stated that the Islamic Republic is considering measures in response to the Australian government's decision to expel Iranian diplomats from the country.
"It is clear that this decision is more related to Australia's internal events than to relations with Iran. The accusations are completely baseless. We will respond reciprocally to any inappropriate and baseless action at the diplomatic level," Baghaei stated.
Baghaei described the act of accusing the Iranian government of participating in anti-Semitic attacks in Australia as "absolutely baseless." According to him, in Iran's culture, history, and religion, "there is no place for concepts like anti-Semitism; this is a Western and European phenomenon."
To recall, Australia declared Iran's Ambassador Ahmad Sadeghi "persona non grata" and instructed him and three other officials to leave the country within seven days. In addition, Australia has recalled its ambassador from Iran and suspended the embassy's operations in Tehran.
