Iran Recalls Envoys Over Restored European Sanctions
27 SEP 2025 11:01
The Islamic Republic of Iran has recalled its ambassadors to Germany, France, and Great Britain for consultations, reports Mehr. The reason is the restoration of sanctions against Iran by Germany, France, and Great Britain.
The Iranian news agency writes that the ambassadors were recalled "in response to the irresponsible actions of the three European countries, which misused the snapback mechanism to restore the previously annulled anti-Iranian resolutions of the UN Security Council." The ambassadors have been recalled for further consultations related to the activation of the Snapback mechanism.
Earlier, on September 26, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had stated that the efforts of the European trio—Great Britain, France, and Germany—to restore the UN Security Council sanctions against Iran were "invalid" and had tried to convince the participating countries in the Security Council to refrain from activating the anti-Iranian sanctions package. The United States and its allies, including the European trio, had neutralized these efforts with their veto.
