Iran Vows to Restore Nuclear Sites with "Greater Momentum"

Tehran intends to rebuild the facilities of its nuclear program, and with "greater momentum." Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced this in an interview with state media on Sunday, reports the Reuters agency. This statement comes months after powerful airstrikes were carried out by the US and Israel in June 2025 on Iran's most important nuclear centers. The Iranian president, however, reiterated that Tehran's goal is not to create nuclear weapons.
"The purpose of the program is not to create nuclear weapons," he added, trying to allay the concerns of the international community. These assurances come against the backdrop of the White House's announcement that the June strikes had completely destroyed Iran's nuclear program, the purpose of which, according to Washington, was precisely the creation of nuclear weapons.
Let us recall that in June 2025, the US, with the support of Israel, carried out several strikes on Iran's key nuclear facilities, including the centers in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. At the time, the White House assured that this operation had put an end to Tehran's nuclear ambitions.
However, a number of American media outlets later wrote, citing intelligence data, that the bombings were not as effective as expected. According to those estimates, the strikes were only able to delay the development of Iran's nuclear program by a few months, but not completely stop it. Making independent assessments of the program's current state is difficult, as Iran has restricted access for IAEA inspectors to its facilities since the strikes.
