Iran Nuclear Deal Effectively Over as Key Deadline Passes

Iran has officially announced that there are no longer any limiting factors on its nuclear program, as the ten-year term of the historic 2015 agreement with world superpowers has expired. This creates a new reality in the context of regional and international security, effectively nullifying the result of long-term diplomatic efforts.
This historic agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was signed in 2015 in Vienna. It was considered a major diplomatic achievement, agreed upon by Iran on one side and the six world powers—China, Great Britain, France, Germany, Russia, and the US—on the other. The main essence of the deal was simple: the lifting of international economic sanctions against Tehran in response to Iran's significant limitation of its nuclear program and its agreement to strict international oversight.
However, the stability of the agreement was seriously undermined when the United States, at the initiative of President Donald Trump, unilaterally withdrew from the deal several years later, restoring and tightening sanctions against Iran. This move became a turning point and laid the foundation for the collapse of the agreement.
In response to Washington's move, Iran began to gradually abandon its commitments, developing its uranium enrichment capabilities and exceeding the thresholds set by the deal. The situation escalated further last month when the UN decided to restore sanctions, which essentially rendered the agreement null and void.
