Within the framework of the UN General Assembly in New York, high-level meetings took place between Iran and France. First, a meeting was held between Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and French President Emmanuel Macron, which was followed by a conversation between the foreign ministers of the two countries, Abbas Araghchi and Jean-Noël Barrot.
The focus of the meetings was on bilateral relations, the Iranian nuclear program, and issues of stability in the Middle East. As reported by official sources, the parties discussed the existing problems between Tehran and Paris, expressing hope that their resolution in the future will create the necessary conditions for expanding relations and cooperation.
Iranian President Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran's position on the nuclear issue, emphasizing that his country "will under no circumstances seek to create a nuclear bomb." He noted that Tehran is ready to conduct a dialogue with European countries on the nuclear program "within an acceptable framework." This statement is seen as a constructive signal aimed at overcoming the stalemate surrounding the nuclear deal. In turn, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that Paris seeks to maintain peace and stability in the Middle East and prevent war. He stressed France's will to resolve the existing problems in relations with Iran and recalled Paris's efforts to settle the nuclear issue. Macron reaffirmed Paris's readiness to work to prevent an escalation of the situation.
It should be recalled that the main topic of the Tehran-Paris dialogue at the moment is Iran's nuclear program. The E3, which includes France, is trying to safeguard against the prospect of Iran creating a nuclear weapon without resorting to hard power.
