Iran Condemns UN Security Council Resolution on Gaza
19 NOV 2025 12:21
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has issued an official statement sharply criticizing Resolution 2803 adopted by the UN Security Council on the Gaza issue. Tehran, while welcoming any international efforts aimed at ending the "genocide and crimes" against the Palestinian people, has at the same time expressed its "serious concern" about a number of provisions in the resolution, which, according to the Iranian side, violate the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people.
According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, a significant part of the resolution's provisions contradicts the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. The Iranian side claims that the document, in essence, imposes a "kind of trusteeship system" on the Gaza Strip, thereby depriving the Palestinian nation of its fundamental rights, in particular, the right to self-determination and the right to establish an independent state with holy Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital. Tehran insists that any discussion on the fate of the Palestinian people, including the governance of Palestinian territories, must take place exclusively within the framework of Palestinian national consensus, and the imposition of any solution by external forces is unacceptable.
The statement notes that the authors of the resolution "deliberately ignored" the central role of the UN and previously adopted resolutions on the Palestinian issue. Iran warns of the dangerous consequences of any legitimization of the occupation of the Gaza Strip, stressing that the division of Gaza and its separation from the unified geography of Palestine contradicts the aspirations of the Palestinian people.
In this context, Iran reaffirms its position, emphasizing "the legitimacy of resistance against occupation, apartheid, and colonialism in accordance with international law." According to Tehran, the resistance is the legitimate response of the Palestinian people to the ongoing occupation of Palestinian lands and the aggression of the Zionist regime.
Iran clearly defines its conditions for the involvement of international forces. According to the Foreign Ministry, any international force must operate exclusively under the supervision of the UN, and their duties should be limited only to maintaining the ceasefire regime, as well as controlling the entry and distribution of international humanitarian aid.
The statement emphasizes that in the current situation, when the Palestinian population is subjected to "genocide, forced starvation, and colonial annihilation," the provision of humanitarian aid and the full opening of checkpoints should become the main priorities.
Iran calls on the international community, especially the guarantors of the ceasefire agreement, to force the "apartheid and occupying Zionist regime" to end the occupation of Palestine and completely withdraw its troops from the Gaza Strip. Tehran also recalls the "blatant negligence and inaction" of the UN Security Council in stopping the genocide of the Palestinians and emphasizes the responsibility of the Council and its member states to prosecute and bring to justice "war criminals and perpetrators of genocide."
