Integrity System for Public Officials Discussed in Armenia

A consultation was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during which the elements of the integrity system for persons holding public office were discussed.
Mariam Galstyan, acting head of the Corruption Prevention Commission, first noted that the integrity system is a developing field and that each year, in parallel with new regulations, it is necessary to align behavior with the elements of the system. Next, Mariam Galstyan presented details on the elements of the integrity system, namely: the principles of conduct for public officials and public servants and the rules of conduct arising from them, restrictions on accepting gifts, incompatibility requirements, conflict of interest, and other restrictions conditioned by the performance of official duties. The principles and rules of conduct defined by the Code of Conduct were also addressed.
The participants of the meeting exchanged views on the continuous improvement of the mechanisms and structures for assessing integrity.
The Prime Minister emphasized the continuous improvement of the integrity system and public accountability, instructed to inventory the submitted proposals, opinions, and observations, to address them according to the competent authorities, and to implement appropriate regulations. In this context, Nikol Pashinyan also considered it necessary to organize regular meetings in this format.
