India Successfully Launches Its Heaviest Satellite Ever

India has successfully launched its heaviest satellite into orbit. The LVM3-M5 rocket launched the GSAT-7R satellite, intended for the Indian Navy. It has a navigational purpose but can be quickly repurposed to serve military objectives as well.

The 4.4-tonne satellite will provide secure communication between ships, submarines, and command posts in the Indian Ocean. It is the heaviest satellite ever launched from India.
