Representatives of the Human Rights Defender, on the instruction of the Human Rights Defender, paid visits to military units located in the Syunik province from August 19-22. We learn about this from the Defender's Facebook page.
Representatives of the Human Rights Defender, in particular, visited the N military unit of the Ministry of Defense, the military hospital, the military commissariat, as well as the departments of the Military Police. The purpose was to get acquainted with the state of ensuring the rights of servicemen, to conduct monitoring, as well as to properly discuss the complaints addressed to the Defender.
Within the framework of their visits to the military units, the representatives of the Defender also had private conversations with conscript soldiers, studied the issues presented by them related to medical care, granting of leave, strengthening of discipline, various issues related to family members, and so on. A number of issues raised by the servicemen were resolved on the spot.
A number of issues presented by both the officer corps and conscript soldiers have been registered in the staff of the Human Rights Defender, they will be summarized and presented with proposals for appropriate solutions to the partner state competent bodies as soon as possible, the statement says, adding that such visits will continue.
