HRD's Message on Day of the Victims of Disappearances
30 AUG 2025 06:36
Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan has sent a message on the occasion of the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances. The message states, in particular:
"Over these years, we have collected and presented to various international actors and competent domestic bodies the problems related to the rights of persons whose whereabouts are unknown and their families as a result of the events from the 1990s, the 44-day military operations, to the September 2023 events and the forced displacement of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, sending a message to all that these issues are among the most urgent. As the Human Rights Defender, I specially emphasize that every case of enforced disappearance has a direct impact on the entire human rights system.
One of the important messages of this day is a clear reminder to states to respect the right of every family to know the truth about the fate of their relatives and to make maximum efforts in that direction. International actors, within their mandate, must also make all possible efforts to support the discovery of the truth and the full restoration and protection of the rights of the affected families," Anahit Manasyan's message states, in particular.
