Hegseth: 'Department of Defense Era is Over,'

An emergency consultation of high-ranking generals took place at the Pentagon, which was unprecedented in its format and the number of participants in the history of the American armed forces. The head of the Department of Defense, Pete Hegseth, delivered a keynote speech at the meeting, announcing a radical change in US military policy and a fundamental rethinking of the department's activities. His speech signaled the end of the era of the "Department of Defense" and the revival of the "Department of War" with the sole purpose of preparing for and winning wars.
At the beginning of his speech, Hegseth reaffirmed that the US military is "the strongest, deadliest, and most capable army on the planet." However, according to him, in recent years the department has deviated from its main mission, being carried away by secondary functions that undermine the army's combat capability. For this reason, he announced the renaming and reorganization of the structure.
"Welcome to the Department of War, because the era of the Department of Defense is over," Hegseth announced. He emphasized that this change is not purely nominal, but reflects a complete change in the philosophy of activity. "From now on, the sole mission of the restored Department of War is to wage war. To prepare for war and to prepare for victory," he stressed, clarifying that any other activity that does not serve this purpose will be eliminated.
The sharpest and most remarkable part of Hegseth's speech concerned the social and cultural policies implemented in the army, which he described as "garbage" and "nonsense." He promised to put an end to all phenomena that, in his opinion, distract the military from their direct duties.
"An end to boys in skirts. An end to the cult of climate change, an end to gender illusions. We are putting an end to this nonsense," the Pentagon chief stated bluntly. He added that there will be no more "self-determination months," DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) offices, "divisions, deviations, or gender delusions." Hegseth made it clear that transgender people will no longer serve in the army, and an end will be put to all initiatives that are not related to increasing the army's combat capability.
The new military doctrine is based on the principle of "peace through strength." Hegseth described pacifism as a "naive and dangerous" ideology, insisting that the US must be ready for war to "defend peace." This thesis was also developed by the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Dan Cain. "To maintain peace, one must prepare for war," he stressed, fully supporting the course adopted by Hegseth.
