Health Ministry Warns Against Burning Leaves Due to Smoke
25 NOV 2025 15:42
Diseases exacerbated by smoke: The Ministry of Health has issued a list and a warning. Burning leaves releases fine dust, smoke gases, and chemical compounds. The Ministry of Health has issued a warning about this, publishing a list of health problems caused or activated by smoke. "Air pollution causes the following health problems:
- Respiratory difficulties (discomfort when taking a deep breath, coughing, shortness of breath),
- exacerbation of cardiovascular problems,
- eye irritation and tearing,
- headaches,
- fatigue.
- In children: bronchitis, asthma exacerbation, attention disorders.
Patients with chronic diseases are more vulnerable, and the smoke from burning leaves can exacerbate bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, and cardiac and allergic diseases," the statement lists.
The Ministry of Health urges: never burn leaves and other plant debris. The smoke and harmful particles released during burning worsen air pollution and can cause serious health problems for both you and those around you. "By not burning leaves, you protect your health and contribute to having clean and safe air," the statement says.
