Hamas Hands Over First 7 Hostages to Red Cross

13 OCT 2025 05:39
Hamas, as part of the peace agreement, handed over the first seven hostages to the Red Cross. This was reported by the Hostages and Missing Families Forum organization. Israeli society, holding its breath, is waiting for the release of the first group of hostages held captive in the Gaza Strip for more than two years. Thousands of people have gathered in "Hostages Square," which has already become symbolic, in the center of Tel Aviv to express their support for the families of the captives and to wait together for the desired news. Over the past two years, this square has become an embodiment of pain, hope, and unwavering struggle, and today it has turned into a center of national anticipation, where everyone hopes to witness the end of a long nightmare.
While the public has gathered in the square, the closest relatives of the hostages to be released are gathering at the "Re'im" military base in southern Israel. As reported by the Israeli public broadcaster "Kan," it is here that the hostages brought out of Gaza will be taken before their final reunion with their families. All conditions have been created in "Re'im" to provide them with first aid and psychological support.
The tension doubled on Monday morning when the Palestinian Hamas movement published a list of the names of 20 living hostages who are scheduled to be released today. The publication of this list, on the one hand, has given a glimmer of hope to the families who found the names of their relatives, and on the other hand, it continues to keep others in uncertainty. It is noteworthy that the name of Maxim Kharkin, who was born in Donbas, is also included in the list.
All of Israel and the international community are waiting for the process to begin. According to the Palestinian side's statement, the transfer of the first group of hostages is scheduled for 09:00 Yerevan time in the morning. The coming hours will be crucial and will show whether this fragile agreement will become the beginning of a larger process.
