11M AMD Embezzlement Scheme Uncovered at Gyumri Hospital

In the course of a preliminary investigation of criminal proceedings initiated in the Shirak Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee, prima facie factual data were obtained that the head of the pediatric department of the "Gyumri Austrian Mother and Child Hospital," along with nurses, under the pretext of providing medical care within the framework of a state order, formally registered various children at the hospital and fraudulently embezzled particularly large sums of money.

The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has released a statement on this matter. During the preliminary investigation of the criminal proceedings, it was revealed that officials of the "Gyumri Austrian Mother and Child Hospital" submitted falsified medical histories for payment to the unified electronic healthcare information system, embezzling a particularly large amount of over 11 million AMD.

During the preliminary investigation, 10 million 159 thousand AMD of the damage caused to the state was recovered.
