Government Clarifies "Viva Armenia" Share Deal

7 AUG 2025 12:24
Regarding the information circulating in the press about the sale of its stake in the "Viva Armenia" company by the Government for $50 million, the Government has issued a clarification.
"At the August 7, 2025 session of the Government, it was not the transaction for the sale of the Government's stake in the "Viva Armenia" company that was approved, but rather, by the Government's decision, it was permitted to conclude a put option agreement on behalf of the Government with the other shareholder of the "Viva Armenia" company, "Fedilco Group Limited."
Under the option agreement, the Government receives the right (but not the obligation) to demand at any time until May 15, 2028, that the other shareholder purchase from the Government the 110,000 common shares belonging to the latter for 50 million US dollars (provided that the conditions stipulated in the annex to the decision are met).
In other words, the decision is about granting the Government a right, the exercise or non-exercise of which will be decided by the Government itself, according to expediency," the clarification issued by the Government says in particular.
