Former Georgian PM Giorgi Gakharia Arrested in Absentia

Tbilisi City Court has decided to detain former Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia in absentia in the "Chorchana episode" case.

The court granted the prosecutor's motion, which stated that Gakharia might hide or influence witnesses. Gakharia's defenders consider the case a political persecution.

It is noted that the court will also consider his preventive measure in the second case, concerning the dispersal of the June 20 rally.
