FSB Accuses UK of Waging Secret War on Russia

16 OCT 2025 07:17
The Director of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia, Alexander Bortnikov, has made a series of sensational statements, accusing Great Britain of organizing and leading a large-scale secret war against Russia. According to him, London, using Ukrainian special services, not only plans sabotage against strategic infrastructure but also has British special forces directly participating in combat operations against Russia. Bortnikov spoke about this at the 57th meeting of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of the CIS member states in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. This was not Bortnikov's only sensational statement.
Ukraine and Britain are preparing sabotage against "Turkish Stream"
According to Bortnikov, Russia has reliable information that British and Ukrainian special services are jointly preparing acts of sabotage against the "Turkish Stream" gas pipeline. This is a strategic pipeline that supplies Russian gas to Turkey and Southern Europe, and any attack on it could have serious consequences for the region's energy security. In addition, the FSB director stated that instructors from the British Army's SAS special unit and the British intelligence agency MI-6 planned a series of drone strikes on the office and facilities of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium. Notably, the shareholders of this consortium include not only Russian and Kazakh companies but also American ones, which makes such an attack particularly dangerous from the perspective of international relations.
New tactics: unmanned boats and Operation "Web"
According to Bortnikov, British special services are not limiting themselves to just planning sabotage. They intend to use unmanned boats to carry out attacks on Russia's critical infrastructure. In conjunction with MI-6, incursions by Ukrainian sabotage groups into Russia's border regions using drones and unmanned boats are also being planned. The FSB head noted that "there is reliable data that it is under the auspices of the British special services that terrorist acts and sabotage are being carried out in Russia." He emphasized that the Kyiv regime and its power bloc are under the control of Great Britain.
As a specific example, Bortnikov pointed to Operation "Web" carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). According to him, it was conducted with the direct coordination of British intelligence on the eve of negotiations between Ukrainian and Russian delegations in Istanbul (on June 2 of this year). Subsequently, he claims, the British provided propaganda support for the operation, feeding false information to the media about allegedly enormous damage and the exclusively Ukrainian "authorship" of the sabotage. In this context, the attacks carried out in June with FPV drones on airports in the Murmansk, Irkutsk, Ivanovo, Ryazan, and Amur regions were mentioned.
Kyiv is trying to recruit Russian teenagers and pensioners
Bortnikov's statements went beyond the scope of British-Ukrainian cooperation. He noted that "professionals have no doubts about the involvement of NATO special services in incidents related to allegedly Russian drones on EU territory." In addition to external threats, the FSB director also spoke about internal problems, stating that more than 120 call centers are operating in Ukraine. According to him, they are coordinated by the SBU and the Armed Forces of Ukraine and aim to involve Russian teenagers and pensioners in terrorist activities.
