French Parliament to Host Conference on Artsakh's Ethnic Cleansing

On September 19, 2023, Azerbaijan launched a large-scale military attack on the Republic of Artsakh, targeting the civilian population and infrastructure, which resulted in numerous casualties. Stepanakert, Askeran, Martakert, and other settlements were bombed. After the end of the ten-month total blockade, the Azerbaijani armed forces annexed Nagorno-Karabakh, which led to the forced displacement and ethnic cleansing of the Artsakh Armenians. The Representation of Artsakh in France has released a statement about this.
To remember these tragic events and discuss their political and legal consequences, a conference will be held in the French National Assembly on the topic "Artsakh /Nagorno-Karabakh/, two years after the ethnic cleansing." The event is being held at the initiative of Emmanuel Mandon, a deputy and vice-president of the France-Armenia friendship group. The goal is to raise awareness about the situation created around Artsakh, to document the ethnic cleansing that took place, and to discuss the political and legal prospects for the future of the region.
Deputies from France, Switzerland, and the Council of Europe, representatives of local self-government bodies, diplomats, academics, and journalists will participate in the conference.
