First Autumn Supermoon Visible on October 6 and 7

6 OCT 2025 05:50
For two consecutive nights, on October 6 and 7, one of the most beautiful moons of the year will be visible: the first autumn supermoon. Levon Azizyan, director of the "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center," wrote about this on his Facebook page.
"The next full moon, which will be visible for the next two consecutive nights (October 6-7 and October 7-8), is expected to be one of the most beautiful of the year. The full moon will be at its closest point to Earth in its orbit and, accordingly, will appear in the sky near its maximum size.
Although these changes are relatively small (the largest moon is only 13% larger than the smallest), the difference in brightness can reach 25% or more, which is usually quite noticeable.
The exact moment of the full moon falls on October 7 at 07:47 Yerevan time. This means that for the territory of the RA, the nights of October 6-7 and the following October 7-8 will be equally favorable for observing the moon in terms of lunar illumination and fairly low cloud cover," Azizyan wrote. According to him, the supermoon season usually lasts for 3-4 consecutive full moons. The moon will reach greater brightness in November (on the 5th) and December (on the 4th), although this is only a 2-3% difference.
