Firebird to Build AI Supercomputer in Armenia with Nvidia Chips

The startup Firebird has received approval from the US government to import Nvidia chips into Armenia. This provides an opportunity for the implementation of a supercomputer creation project, which is part of a global initiative to expand artificial intelligence infrastructure.
"The efforts, which Nvidia announced back in June, will allow for the creation of the first large-scale AI data processing center in the region. The 100-megawatt facility, with an initial investment of $500 million, will use Dell Technologies' AI servers and Nvidia's Blackwell processors. The launch of the first phase is planned for the second quarter of next year. This was reported by Firebird co-founder Razmik Hovakimian," writes Bloomberg.
About 20 percent of Firebird's capacity will be used by Armenian companies, with the remaining 80 percent being sold to American companies doing business in the region. The first phase will be financed through borrowed funds and equity capital raised by Firebird. Hovakimian stated that the company is also supported by Moderna co-founder Noubar Afeyan.
