Fidan: Russia's Position on Ukraine War Has Changed

29 AUG 2025 06:59
In recent months, Russia's position on the war in Ukraine has undergone significant changes. This was stated by Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan on the Turkish television channel TGRT.
According to him, during the last negotiations in Istanbul, the parties presented specific positions, which were later discussed at the summit in Alaska. Fidan emphasized that Moscow no longer insists on establishing control over the entire territory of the 4 regions of Ukraine.
Currently, maintaining the front line in Zaporizhzhia and securing 25-30% of the Donetsk region for Russia are being discussed, Fidan noted. "The fact that Moscow has agreed to guarantee these conditions with a security mechanism is impressive. This creates a basis for a future settlement, although at the same time it poses complex challenges for both countries, especially for Ukraine," the Turkish minister added.
