In the capital of India, a protest was held by the parents, brothers, and sisters of Indians who were deceptively recruited into the Russian army to participate in the war against Ukraine.
The protesters are demanding that the Indian government take immediate measures to bring their sons and brothers home. Many of them went to Russia to study, but once there, they were forced to sign military service contracts in Russian. One of the latest victims is 28-year-old Sonu, whose funeral took place on October 29.
According to reports, about 50 people participated in the protest. They held a banner depicting photos of 20 Indians in military uniforms. Some of them are missing, two have been killed, but their relatives are unable to retrieve their bodies.
According to independent Russian media, the families of the deceased receive no compensation from the Russian authorities. The relatives demand that their government respond and put an end to the tragedy of their children ending up in a foreign war.
