Ex-Head of Armenia's Judicial Council Jailed for 1.5 Years

On August 8, the Anti-Corruption Court, presided over by Judge Vahe Dolmazyan, announced the guilty verdict for Ruben Vardazaryan, the former President of the Supreme Judicial Council.
He was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 1 year and 6 months. Vardazaryan was also deprived of the right to hold public office for a period of 2 years.
It is recalled that the former President of the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Armenia, Ruben Vardazaryan, was charged by the Special Investigation Service under Part 3 of Article 332 of the former Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia for obstructing justice by using his official position, and a signature bond not to leave was applied as a measure of restraint.
A criminal case was initiated against Vardazaryan based on a report by former judge and Deputy Director of the National Security Service Andranik Simonyan.
