According to the Financial Times and The Economist, Europe has become a target of foreign powers' games. The EU, fearing the loss of the American military "umbrella," has signed an unfavorable trade agreement with the US.
At the same time, China, Russia, and Turkey are strengthening their influence in the Balkans, while Brussels appears divided and vulnerable.
Against this backdrop, France and Germany are advocating for the postponement of the entry into force of the provisions of the EU's artificial intelligence (AI) law concerning high-risk systems. At the summit in Berlin, Emmanuel Macron stated: "We need time to accelerate innovation."
Europe is responding to these challenges with external unity but internal division. Most European countries are in favor of preparing for war, openly or covertly hinting that they see a threat from Russia. And some countries, for example, Hungary, openly advocate for the normalization of relations with Russia and on various occasions oppose anti-Russian sanctions.
