The signing of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia opens a new phase for the development of the South Caucasus, creating conditions to turn the region into a promising tourist destination. Euronews has covered the topic. The article focuses on Azerbaijan's tourism potential.
"Azerbaijan is ready to respond quickly to growing demand, and a peace agreement increases investor confidence, making our market even more attractive to global brands," Florian Sengstschmid, CEO of the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau, said in a comment to Euronews.
Speaking about the signing of a peace agreement between Baku and Yerevan, Sengstschmid emphasized that the opening of borders for the first time in recent years will allow the promotion of the South Caucasus as a single tourist area, creating conditions for combined (multi-country) tours and making the region attractive for tourists from distant countries.
The article notes that the launch of the TRIPP transport corridor is an ambitious project "that will connect Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and through Turkey, with European markets."
According to the author of the article, this new reality offers more than just improved accessibility for Azerbaijan's tourism sector: "It changes the country's image, making it a safe, connected, and open destination."
In addition, Euronews emphasizes that whereas previously European travelers were hesitant to travel to the South Caucasus due to concerns about stability, they will now see the region in a new light.
