EU Welcomes Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Agreement

The European Union welcomes the agreement reached on August 8 at the White House in the presence of the US President between the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, emphasizing that it is now important for the agreements to be implemented in a timely manner, and for the Peace Treaty to be signed and ratified.
"This is an important and decisive step towards the full normalization of bilateral relations, based on the mutual recognition of the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and inviolability of borders of the countries, in accordance with the Alma-Ata Declaration," the statement emphasizes.
It is noted that the implementation of the agreements will have a positive impact on the overall peaceful development of the region.
"The EU fully supports the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, has worked for years with both sides and international partners to create conditions for a lasting peace," the European Union noted.
Albania, Georgia, Iceland, Moldova, Norway, North Macedonia, San Marino, Serbia, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and other countries have joined this statement.
