The European Union confirms its readiness to support the development of communications and the promotion of regional ties in the South Caucasus by investing its toolkit not only in the "Trump Road" project but also in the broader "Crossroads of Peace" initiative put forward by the Armenian government. According to "Armenpress," this statement was made by the EU Ambassador to Armenia, Vassilis Maragos, during a conversation with journalists in the Syunik province.
The Ambassador's remark came in response to a question about the documents signed between Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the US in Washington on August 8. The EU representative emphasized that Brussels has positively assessed these developments and has been ready to support their implementation from the very beginning.
"The events and meetings that took place in Washington on August 8 were welcomed by the European Union, and since that day we have expressed our readiness to support these initiatives and connectivity. We are ready to invest our tools not only within the framework of the 'Trump Road' project but also in the context of the entire 'Crossroads of Peace' initiative, which was welcomed by the European Union two years ago when the Armenian government announced it," noted Vassilis Maragos.
According to the Ambassador, the EU's support is not limited to specific projects but encompasses the Armenian government's strategic vision of making the country a regional logistics and peace hub. Vassilis Maragos also reaffirmed the European Union's consistent position in supporting the peace process in the region. He noted that although many details still need to be clarified, the EU fully supports the peace agenda.
"We are very happy that peace is coming. Many details still need to be clarified, but we are here as a reliable partner of Armenia, the Armenian people, and the Armenian government to support you in this process," concluded the EU Ambassador, assuring that Brussels will continue to stand by Armenia, supporting its reforms and peaceful aspirations.
