On his way back from Azerbaijan, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, speaking to journalists on the presidential plane, talked about a "window of opportunity" in the South Caucasus and recalled how he helped his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev in the occupation of Artsakh.
Erdoğan noted that he "welcomes the steps between Armenia and Azerbaijan within the framework of the peace process" and has repeatedly expressed satisfaction with the agreement reached between the parties in Washington on August 8.
"After more than 30 years of instability, a window of opportunity has opened in the South Caucasus for lasting peace and tranquility," Anadolu reports. "The conclusion of the peace process will very quickly make Azerbaijan, the victor of the war, also the architect of peace in the region," Erdoğan said.
