Erdoğan Proposes Creation of a Common Turkic Alphabet

We need to accelerate the process of creating a common Turkic alphabet. Turkish President Recep Erdoğan stated this at the 12th summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States.
The majority of the issues on the agenda of the summit, held in Azerbaijan, were directly or indirectly related to strengthening internal ties in the Turkic world. One of the ways to strengthen these ties, according to Erdoğan, could be a common alphabet.
The Turkish President noted that the works of Chingiz Aitmatov, as well as the "Oghuzname," have already been published in the common Turkic alphabet and promised to give each leader a copy of these publications. "I propose to establish December 15 as the Day of the Common Turkic Language," Erdoğan announced. The proposal was accepted.
