US President Donald Trump's mediation efforts aimed at ending the war in the Gaza Strip and releasing hostages have been highly praised by two key countries in the region: Egypt and Israel. Both countries almost simultaneously announced that they would award the US leader their highest state honors, marking his role in resolving the long-standing conflict.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has decided to award Donald Trump the highest state award of the Arab Republic - the Order of the Nile. This was reported by the office of the President of Egypt. The official statement notes that this step was taken "in recognition of the US President's contribution to the settlement of conflicts, including his role in ending the war in the Gaza Strip." The Order of the Nile is a symbolic award given to heads of state for exceptional services to Egypt or humanity.
Almost at the same time, a similar announcement was made from Jerusalem. Israeli President Isaac Herzog has announced that he will award Donald Trump the country's highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal. As reported by the Ynet news agency, this decision was made in appreciation of "the historic agreement for the release of all hostages, the end of the war, and his full and unwavering support for Israel." This award is an expression of gratitude from Israel to the US President, whose administration's active intervention, according to the Israeli side, played a crucial role in achieving a positive shift in the crisis situation.
Thus, Donald Trump becomes one of the unique world leaders whose diplomatic efforts are simultaneously honored with the highest awards of both one of the leading countries of the Arab world and Israel.
