AI System Accelerates Cancer Drug Development

The development of science and technology is opening new horizons in medicine, particularly in the field of oncology. Researchers at Duke University (USA) have developed an innovative system that combines the capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to accelerate the creation of complex drugs for cancer treatment. The focus of the research is the development of nanoparticles that deliver drugs to the body. These ultrafine particles allow the drug to be delivered directly to cancer cells, minimizing the effect on healthy tissues. However, the creation of such particles is an extremely complex and time-consuming process.
The system developed by scientists at Duke University works as follows: a laboratory robot mixes various chemicals, and machine learning algorithms analyze the resulting formulas. Artificial intelligence, surpassing previously existing deep neural networks, predicts with high accuracy which combinations will be the most successful.
This approach has already yielded impressive results. Scientists have managed to improve two anti-cancer drugs. In the first case, they created a new version of the drug, reducing the content of active ingredients by 75%, which can reduce side effects. In the second case, the effectiveness of a drug that fights leukemia (blood cancer) was significantly increased.
According to experts, this technology can not only accelerate and simplify the production of already existing drugs but also pave the way for the creation of completely new methods of treatment, inspiring hope for millions of people around the world.
