Design of New Armenian ID Card Approved

On November 18, the delegation led by the RA Minister of Internal Affairs, Arpine Sargsyan, visited the production facility of the French company IN Group in Ostrava, Czech Republic, and confirmed the external appearance and security components of the identification card. A number of technical issues related to the structure and design of the passport data page were also discussed.

The Minister was introduced to the modernization directions and technical solutions of electronic border management systems, and reference was also made to the current situation of the biometric system implementation, the development process, and expected innovations.

The Minister got acquainted with the actual printing process of both identification cards and passports, noting that the provision of modern, secure, and new quality services for citizens in the field of providing biometric documents is a priority.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with its private partner, is making maximum efforts to start the production of biometric documents within the promised timeframe, in the second half of 2026.

Arpine Sargsyan also emphasized the cooperation with the private partner in the introduction of innovative solutions in the identity management infrastructure and in terms of document security, and stressed that it plays a significant role in the visa liberalization process with the EU.
