Cyprus wildfire: Two dead, villages evacuated near Limassol

In Cyprus, the fight continues against a large fire that broke out north of Limassol, which led to the evacuation of at least four villages on the first day of an abnormal heatwave that has covered the country.
According to police, two bodies were found in a completely burned-out car on the Monagri-Alassa road on the evening of July 23. In addition, two people were hospitalized with burns. Aerial firefighting began at sunrise on July 24. However, in many places, it is not possible to contain the fire.
The fire has burned houses and cars, and citizen evacuations are ongoing. Simultaneously, the air temperature is rising. Compared to 43 degrees on July 23, the air temperature in Cyprus reached 44 degrees on July 24. Cyprus has requested assistance. Jordan has responded, promising to send two planes.
