Viper Dies After Biting Drunk Man in Croatia

According to News Bar, in Croatia, a viper bit a drunk man and died from the alcohol in his blood. The incident occurred when 42-year-old Štef Radulić got too close to a viper during a walk, which, feeling threatened, bit his leg.
"I immediately realized it was a snake. I was about to run to the doctor, but I noticed something was wrong with it: its eyes were half-closed, it was swaying and hit its head on a tree twice," said the Croatian.
While the man was trying to provide aid to the reptile and take it to an emergency department, the snake died. A veterinary examination showed that its blood alcohol level was 5.1 g/kg.
"Local vipers are simply not adapted to such a concentration of alcohol in the blood of their 'prey.' It is simply incompatible with life," commented Dr. Mate Drnić. Instead, the snake's venom had no effect on Štef. Doctors believe that the alcohol in his blood neutralized the toxin, which may have saved his life.
