The commander of the 5th battalion of Jrakan conscripts, Ishkhan Vahanyan, has been sentenced to 16 years in prison. Hetq writes about this. As an additional punishment, Vahanyan was stripped of his military rank of Major of the RA Armed Forces.
It should be recalled that exactly 5 years ago, on October 10, 2020, Azerbaijani forces attacked Khurhat mountain, where the 5th battalion of Jrakan was stationed, mostly consisting of conscripts. According to testimonies, Ishkhan Vahanyan came down from the mountain, saying he was wounded, got into a car, and left, also taking the means of communication with him. 5 years later, the commander, accused of leaving the conscripts alone and abandoning the battlefield, was sentenced to imprisonment.
