"CC" Party Voted Against Resolution on Artsakh Armenians' Right to Return

During the session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly held in Yerevan, a vote that became the subject of sharp political debates took place, during which the deputies of Armenia's ruling "Civil Contract" faction voted against the proposal for a resolution demanding the right of return for the forcibly displaced Artsakh Armenians. This move has provoked strong criticism from opposition circles, creating a new wave of internal political tension.
The issue pertains to a proposed amendment to one of the presented reports, co-authored by Armenian opposition MPs Artur Khachatryan, Anna Grigoryan, Elinar Vardanyan, Hayk Mamijanyan, as well as two socialist members of the European Parliament. The key demand of the proposal was to call on Azerbaijan "to ensure the right of the people of Artsakh to a safe and collective return to their homeland under international security guarantees." However, Armenia's ruling power not only failed to support this initiative but, according to the opposition, took steps to defeat it. "According to our European colleagues from various factions, the 'Civil Contract' members had urged the Europeans not to vote in favor of our proposed amendment," opposition MP Artur Khachatryan stated on his Facebook page.
