On November 5, the 13th meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Councils of the CIS member states will begin in Moscow, chaired by the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu. The key issues on the meeting's agenda will be the threats facing the CIS, measures to respond to them, and countering the "ideological expansion" of the West.
As the press service of the Security Council of the Russian Federation told TASS, the meeting is scheduled to discuss "challenges and threats to security in the CIS, as well as possible joint response measures." The Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Aleksey Shevtsov, added that issues of humanitarian cooperation will also be discussed.
Within the framework of the meeting, Sergei Shoigu also plans to hold separate bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Belarus.
Referring to the format of the meeting, Shoigu emphasized that it is "a truly unique format of trust-based communication, which allows not only to openly and constructively discuss the most complex security issues, but also to jointly develop solutions to protect countries and peoples from external and internal threats, based on the solid foundation of traditional common values."
Before the working discussions, the Secretaries of the Security Councils will lay flowers at the Eternal Flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden in memory of those who died in World War II.
We remind you that the meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Councils of the CIS will be the final event of the "Peoples of Russia and the CIS" international festival held in Moscow since October 31.
