China Offers US $1T Investment to End Restrictions

China's trade negotiators with Washington have offered to invest huge sums of money in the American economy, but with certain conditions. One of them is the lifting of restrictions imposed on Chinese companies over the past decade for national security reasons.

After a meeting of the delegations in Madrid in September, where an agreement was reached for TikTok to continue its operations in the US, Trade Representative Jamison Greer told Fox Business that Washington and Beijing had discussed the "investment environment for Chinese companies in the United States." The US "expressed its readiness to cooperate with China to achieve a common goal when it comes to reducing investment barriers and promoting appropriate cooperation on the trade and economic front," according to Chinese sources.

A few days later, in a phone call with Donald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping insisted on the need to create appropriate conditions for "Chinese companies to make investments" in America.

Bloomberg sources noted that the move is being offered as part of a large-scale investment package, which Chinese officials estimated earlier this year at $1 trillion. However, whether the US will receive that money or not will be shown by future developments.
