Today is International Children's Day

1 JUN 2025 07:23
Every year on this day, June 1st, is celebrated in different corners of the world as International Children's Day. It was established in 1949 in Paris by the Women's International Democratic Federation. The holiday was first celebrated in 1950. As to why June 1st was chosen, various justifications are given, attributing the initiative in one case to China, and in another to Geneva.
Armenia ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1990, and in 1996 the RA Law "On the Rights of the Child" was adopted. By the way, another holiday is celebrated on June 1st – Global Day of Parents. It was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in September 2012, and since 2013, it has been celebrated annually on the first day of summer "in honor of all parents in the world."
