Chabahar to Black Sea via Armenia: Project is Underway

There is a mutual understanding and agreement between Armenia and Iran regarding the operation of the transport route from Chabahar to Armenia, then to the Black Sea, as well as from the Persian Gulf to the Sea of Oman. Moreover, this is not about ideas, but a concrete, already ongoing project. The details were presented by the Ambassador of Iran to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, at his farewell press conference.
"We are building an expressway from Barzavan to Norduz. And on the Armenian side, the construction of the 32-kilometer road from Agarak to Kajaran is being carried out by an Iranian company, which will complete the work ahead of schedule. After that comes the 7.5-kilometer Kajaran tunnel. Very soon, the winners of its tender will be announced, and the tunnel construction will be completed within the set deadline.

After the Kajaran tunnel, there is a 63-kilometer road for which no tender has been announced. There will be tenders in the future. I am convinced that after the construction of this road, there will be a great revolution in the transport sector between the two countries, and the flows will increase. It will provide an opportunity to establish a connection from Iran to the Black Sea, as well as between the Chabahar port and the Persian Gulf," noted the ambassador.
