Catholicos Garegin II Issues Message on Artsakh Republic Day

The Catholicos of All Armenians, Garegin II, has sent a message on the occasion of the proclamation day of the Republic of Artsakh.

"On the eve of the thirtieth anniversary of Artsakh's independence, in 2020-2023, tragic events unfolded.

As a result of the war unleashed by Azerbaijan and genocidal actions, the Armenian world of Artsakh was forcibly occupied and completely depopulated of Armenians, thousands of Armenians were killed, numerous shrines were desecrated and destroyed, and to this day, state officials and military personnel of Artsakh continue to remain hostages in Baku.

Our patriarchal exhortation is that we multiply our efforts to protect the rights of our displaced people of Artsakh with the support of the international community, to save the centuries-old Armenian spiritual-cultural heritage from destruction, and to return our captive sons to the homeland," the message of the Catholicos of All Armenians states in particular.
