Catholicos's Brother Arrested as 'Liturgy-Battle' Continues

On Sunday, the second liturgy took place at the Surb Hovhannavank church in the village of Ohanavan, which the Mother See calls a political production, even a desecration. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan, ministers, deputies, community heads, and regional governors participated in the event.

The brother of the Catholicos of All Armenians, Gevorg Nersisyan, and his nephew, Hambardzum Nersisyan, have been arrested. Lawyer Ara Zohrabyan has reported that they have given testimonies, and the video of the incident has been presented to the investigator. The Investigative Committee accuses Gevorg and Hambardzum Nersisyan of obstructing campaigning and has petitioned the court to detain them.
