Canadian Ambassador Visits Syunik Province

Syunik Governor Robert Ghukasyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to the Republic of Armenia, Andrew Turner, on September 23. The office of the Syunik Governor informs about this. Summarizing the two-year activity of this new diplomatic mission in the RA, the ambassador provided information on the work done and especially the programs implemented with their support in Syunik.

Robert Ghukasyan welcomed Andrew Turner's latest visit to Syunik and, speaking about the region's economic potential, presented the large-scale development works being carried out in the region's infrastructures with state funds, and investments from local and international organizations. The governor also emphasized that he would especially like to see Canada's instructive experience in the agricultural sector implemented in Syunik.

The high-ranking diplomat informed that during this visit, he plans to devote more time to getting acquainted with the historical and cultural monuments of the region. He added that in Armenian-Canadian relations, he emphasizes the importance of cooperation with the Syunik province.

During the meeting, the process of establishing stable peace in the region was also discussed, and the ambassador noted that Canada welcomes and encourages this process.

Other issues of mutual interest were discussed.
