A horrific incident has occurred in the county of Cambridgeshire, England. On a train heading to London, unknown individuals attacked passengers with knives, resulting in ten people being injured. According to BBC News, nine of the victims are in critical condition, and doctors are fighting for their lives. This brutal attack has shocked the entire British society, causing deep concern about the country's security level.
The incident occurred at 6:25 p.m. local time, as the train from Doncaster to London's King's Cross station was approaching Huntingdon. Immediately after the attack, the train made an emergency stop, where dozens of police forces were already waiting. Law enforcement officers cordoned off the station and arrested two suspects.
Witnesses described the chaos and terror that prevailed. One passenger told the BBC that he saw a man with a bloody hand running through the carriage, shouting, "They have a knife." This scene caused panic among the passengers. Another witness testified that the police had to use a taser on one of the detainees on the platform to overcome his resistance.
The British Transport Police have officially announced that counter-terrorism unit officers will also be involved in the investigation of the incident. The police noted that they are "working to establish all the circumstances and motives," which suggests that the possibility of terrorism is not being ruled out.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer also reacted to the incident. He described the event in Cambridgeshire as a "horrific incident," emphasizing that it causes "deep concern." At present, all the injured are in hospitals, and the investigation continues to determine the motives for this unprecedented brutality.
