Cambodia to nominate Trump for Nobel Peace Prize

Cambodia is preparing to nominate US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his help in resolving the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia. Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol announced this in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

"He (US President Donald Trump) should receive the Nobel Prize not only for his work in Cambodia but also for what he has done in other regions," he said. Chanthol emphasized that without Trump's participation, the countries would have been unlikely to agree to end the conflict.

Let us recall that on the night of July 24, clashes began between the ground forces of the two states in a disputed territory. Thai authorities accused Cambodia of provoking the conflict, and later the country's air force carried out strikes on targets in Cambodian territory.

On July 29, the militaries of Thailand and Cambodia agreed not to deploy additional troops to the border amid the ongoing armed conflict. The US played a major role in establishing the ceasefire.
