Baku Summons Russian Ambassador After Kyiv Embassy Hit

The massive overnight missile attack on Kyiv by Russia has led to a serious diplomatic scandal. As a result of one of the strikes, the building of the Azerbaijani embassy in Ukraine was damaged, which caused a harsh reaction from Baku and strengthened cooperation between Kyiv and Baku.
In response to the incident, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Azerbaijan, Mikhail Yevdokimov, was summoned to the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As reported by Azerbaijani media, a strong note of protest was handed to the Russian diplomat. Baku strongly protested the fact that one of the "Iskander" missiles fired at Kyiv fell on the territory of the embassy. As a result, significant damage was caused to the diplomatic mission and official vehicles.
In connection with the incident, the presidents of Ukraine and Azerbaijan had a telephone conversation. On his social media pages, Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Aliyev for his support and condolences.
"Last night, the Russians used hundreds of drones and missiles, including ballistic ones, against Ukrainians. Unfortunately, there is destruction and damage, including to the building of the Azerbaijani embassy. Mr. President condemned this strike and stressed that this is not the first time the Russians have targeted the embassy building and other objects related to Azerbaijan," Zelenskyy wrote.
In addition to discussing the incident, the leaders of the two countries also touched upon the development of bilateral relations. According to Zelenskyy, this conversation has given a new impetus to cooperation. "A real green light has been given to all areas of our bilateral cooperation. The potential is huge, and we will bring it to life. Thank you," concluded the President of Ukraine, emphasizing that this event, despite its tragic nature, has become a basis for further deepening the partnership between the two countries.
